David Luca – Jazz Pianist & Composer | Maastricht Jazz Collective
The Harmonic Core. Pianist, composer, and arranger blending modern European modal jazz, energetic urban grooves, and Eastern European rhythmic sensibilities.
About David Luca
David Luca is an award-winning jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader based between the Netherlands and Romania. Serving as the harmonic anchor and primary composer for the Maastricht Jazz Collective, he shapes the quintet's sonic profile through dynamic acoustic piano voicings, vintage Fender Rhodes textures, and intricate modal harmonies.
His academic foundation bridges classical pedagogical discipline and contemporary jazz performance, pursuing dual studies at Conservatorium Maastricht (Jazz Piano) and the „Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca (Music Pedagogy). Throughout his artistic development, he has trained and collaborated with prominent international mentors including Frank Giebels, Mike Roelofs, Billy Test, and Joachim Schönecker.
Beyond leading the Maastricht Jazz Collective, David actively performs as a guest soloist and leads his own acoustic and modern jazz configurations across Europe.
